        Payment and Policies – Sunshine Motel and Cabins, Ontonagon, MI​

At Sunshine Motel and Cabins in Ontonagon, MI, we aim to make your stay as smooth as possible. Please review our updated payment and cancellation policies for both in-person and online bookings.
 

• In-Person Payments

• All balances for motel rooms are due at check-in.

• Full payment for cabin rentals will be collected 30 days prior to your arrival.

• Payments are accepted via cash or credit card: MasterCard, VISA, Discover, and American Express.

• A valid major credit card is required for all reservations to cover potential theft or damages.

• Large group reservations may have different payment policies; please contact management for details.
   

• Online Booking Payments

• Credit Card Payment: Requires full payment upfront. Standard refund policies apply, with a 3.5% cancellation fee for pre-paid reservations.

• Offline Payment: Follows the same process as in-person payments. A valid credit card must be provided to secure the reservation. If we cannot reach you after several attempts, the reservation may be canceled. Cabin payments are still charged 30 days prior to arrival.
  
   

• Age Requirement

• Guests must be at least 21 years old with valid ID to check in. No ID means no room.
  
   

• Cancellation Policies

• Motel Rooms: Cancellations must be made by 7:00 AM EST at least 48 hours before arrival. Late cancellations will be charged for the full stay. Any re-rented portion will be refunded, minus a 3.5% credit card fee.

• Cabins: Cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to arrival for a full refund. After this period, the full charge applies, minus any re-rented nights and a 3.5% processing fee. Winter policies may differ.

• Holiday, All School Reunion, and Festival Reservations: Require 30 days’ notice for cancellations. These reservations are non-refundable after the deadline.

• No-Call/No-Show: Full reservation charges apply, and the reservation may be canceled at management’s discretion.
  
   

• Pet-Friendly Policy

• Dogs are welcome! A maximum of 2 dogs per room or cabin is allowed, with a weight limit of 50 lbs per dog. A $25.00 fee per dog, per visit, applies. View full  Dog policies here.
  
   

• Housekeeping Policies

• All cabins are housekeeping units. Guests are responsible for washing and storing dishes and light cleaning before departure.

• No daily housekeeping is provided. Fresh towels are available upon request at the office.

• A  minimum $25.00 cleaning fee applies for unwashed dishes, with additional fees for excessive cleaning.
  
   

• Property Rules

• No Smoking: Smoking and drug use is prohibited in all rooms, cabins, and enclosed areas. Violators will be charged a $100.00 cleaning fee and may face a $250.00 state fine.

• No Overnight Vehicle Camping: RVs, pop-ups, and converted vans/cars are not permitted.

• Visitor Policy: All visitors must leave the property by 11:00 PM EST. Guest parking arrangements can be made with management.

• Weapons Policy: All weapons must remain unloaded at all times on the property.
  
   

• Damage and Liability

• Guests are responsible for all damages or theft during their stay.

• We will not be held responsible for lost or stolen items/personal property.

• We will not be held responsible for any injuries off or on property (Nature can be dangerous!)
  
   

• Management Rights

• Management reserves the right to refuse service to any guest or animal, and to revise policies as necessary.
